LA FONDAZIONE PIERA, PIETRO |
PEOPLE The Foundation's mission revolves around Ferrero’s retired employees, instilling a sense of continued belonging to the Ferrero Group by promoting and encouraging the ongoing use of their wealth of experience, wisdom, values and humanity. The Foundation offers these Seniors the opportunity to continue along a path of personal growth during their retirement years by providing space and resources for them to meet and be active. The guiding values of the Work, Create & Donate principles, which are at the heart of the Ferrero Company itself, find their highest expression in the Foundation. There are many original humanitarian projects which bear witness to the professionalism developed by the Seniors during their working lives. New experiences and insights, the hallmark of all the initiatives undertaken, deliver results that directly contribute to the growth of individuals and the community. Health and welfare assistance in a caring environment are just some of the aims pursued by the Foundation on a daily basis. In addition, the Foundation works in partnership with Italian and foreign universities. It awards study grants and scholarships, and provides funding to organisations and individuals, with a view to improving people's quality of life generally and the lives of children specifically. |

CULTURE The cultural commitment of the Ferrero Foundation shows itself through the creation and implementation of projects - from the arts to the sciences - including the organisation of conventions, conferences, exhibitions, concerts and seminars. Some exceptional cultural events organised by the Foundation Events have brought figures of great importance in the history of Alba and Piedmont to the attention of the public, drawn from both Piedmont and beyond. In the field of art history, the Foundation's focus and initiatives span the fifteenth century to the present day. The Renaissance painter Macrino d’Alba and other similar painters working in the local area, known collectively as Piedmontese Primitives, have been the subject of extensive exhibitions and published works. The Foundation has dedicated much of its attention to a number of leading figures from Alba's cultural heritage. Among them are Roberto Longhi, art historian of international renown, Beppe Fenoglio, one of Italy's greatest twentieth century writers, and Pinot Gallizio, an eclectic experimentalist and one of the founders of the Situationist International movement. The Foundation is home to the Beppe Fenoglio Archive which, for over a decade, has concentrated its efforts on collecting biographical, bibliographical, and cinematographical material on the author, for the benefit of scholars and the general public alike. In the field of history, studies and research have focused on the ancient Roman Emperor Publius Helvius Pertinax, who lived in the second century AD, and the sixteenth-century jurisconsult Pietrino Belli, an early exponent of international law and the charter of human rights. |
